OU POSTGAME QUOTES
OKLAHOMA STATE vs. OKLAHOMA
WEDNESDAY, FEB. 19, 2003
LLOYD NOBLE CENTER - NORMAN, OKLA.
HEAD COACH KELVIN SAMPSON
On the win:
"We wanted to do two things. First of all, we wanted to pound it inside to Kevin (Bookout). We also wanted to really, really guard them."
On the pace of the game:
"I thought our patience was much better tonight. I told Hollis to quit trying to score so fast. I gave him a Wooden quote. He said be quick, but don't hurry. We have 35 seconds to score."
On Kevin Bookout's inside game:
"Kevin would be the first one to tell you-credit his teammates for finding him. As his career develops, his game will expand."
On Ebi Ere:
"He shot the ball with confidence. He had a couple of flying, leaning shots. He did knock down his open threes. And he did a lot of good things tonight. With a kid like that, you just keep encouraging him."
On Sunday's game versus Kansas:
"Every game becomes your most important game. The game Sunday is going to be a battle between two very good teams. We're playing for a lot right now. We're looking forward to playing them."
SENIOR GUARD HOLLIS PRICE
On stopping OSU's run:
"We knew those guys were going to make a run. We were up 23 points and it's hard to come back against a team as good as we are. But those guys never gave up. Victor Williams did a great job of playing with a lot of emotion and pushing the ball. His team fed off him. But we found a way to keep our lead."
On getting the ball inside on offense:
"That's what we wanted to do tonight. Kevin Bookout did a great job for us tonight. Jabahri Brown made back-to-back passes to Kevin and that was a little burst for us."
FRESHMAN FORWARD KEVIN BOOKOUT
On getting involved offensively early in the game:
"This week in practice we worked on getting the ball inside and out and creating things for our guards. When our guards are on, they are on and they did a great job of getting me the ball."
On stopping OSU's run in the second half:
"Sooner or later I knew that we were going to put a run together. I think the technical got them going, but Blake Johnston said that we were going to get going and get the lead back to 20. We listened to him and pulled out the victory."
OKLAHOMA STATE QUOTES
Oklahoma 64, Oklahoma State 48

OSU Head Coach Eddie Sutton
On the game:
"When you miss the easy shots your defense is only going to hold up so long when you play against a good basketball team. In the second half when we cut it to 11 I thought we still had a chance to get back in the game. Tony (Allen) missed one and then missed another and then Jason (Miller) missed a tip in. If you can get to single digits with the three-point shots, anything can happen, but you are not going to beat even the Sisters Of The Poor if you shoot 28 percent."
"They are a really good basketball team. Ebi (Ere) came out tonight and played well. Bookout is playing super."
Senior Guard Victor Williams
On Hollis Price:
"I thought Oklahoma did a better job of screening for him. Melvin (Sanders) was running through so many screens I think he got tired. Hollis is a great player, you can't give him a look."
On OSU's Inside Game:
"We wanted to establish our inside game. We didn't do a good job of getting the ball down low. We took too many perimeter shots. If we're going to get back to where we were earlier in the season, we have to establish an inside game."
On OSU's Turnovers:
"I think we had too many turnovers. In the first half we were very careless with the ball. OU played great defense. They were in all the passing lanes. You have to give them credit."
Junior Forward Ivan McFarlin
On OU freshman Kevin Bookout:
"You have to give it up to Bookout. He is a great player and he has developed. He has a nice shot. He never brings the ball down and has a nice touch off the glass. It is a very hard shot to block."
