Third Round Of NCAA Men's Golf Championships Suspended

NORMAN, Okla.- The third round of the 2001 NCAA Men's Golf Championships in Durham, N.C., was suspended Friday afternoon at 3:00 p.m. (EST) due to heavy rains and lightning. Third round action will resume at 7:30 a.m. (EST) Saturday morning at the Duke Country Club.

The 11th-ranked University of Oklahoma men's golf team is currently in 11th place at 14-over-par. The Sooners played the majority of their round before play was suspended.

Senior Kelsey Cline (Yukon, Okla.) and freshman Martin Flores (Mansfield, Texas) are both at even-par for the third round after 14 holes of play. Cline is 2-under for the tournament and tied for 12th place, while Flores has moved up two notches and is currently tied for 34th at 2-over.

Junior Cody Freeman (Arnett, Okla.) is at 2-over with two holes to play. It's Freeman's best round of the tournament so far and has moved him into a tie for 71st. Sophomore John Kidwell (Dallas, Texas) is at 3-over-par with three holes left to play in the third round. He currently stands tied for 64th and one shot behind sophomore Matt Cohn (La Jolla, Calif.), who is 4-over after 15 holes in the third round and tied for 58th.
