Women's Golf Team In Fifth Place After Two Rounds At The NCAA Central Regional

NORMAN, Okla. - The University of Oklahoma women's golf team is in fifth place after two rounds at the NCCA Central Regional tournament at the Forest Akers Golf Course in East Lansing, Mich. The Sooners rallied back from 11th place by shooting a 306, which was the low round of the day.

Junior Allison Johnson carded rounds of 79 and 77 to stand in 13th place. Trailing Johnson by one stroke is sophomore Lisa Meldrum, who is in 19th place with a score of 157 and one stroke behind Meldrum is fellow sophomore Hope Edge, who is in 25th place. Seniors Wendy Martin and Jennifer Tannehill are within one stroke of each other. Martin is currently in 45th place with a score of 161 and Tannehill carded a 162 and is in 50th place.

The Sooners will need to finish in the top eight to advance to the NCAA Championships May 21-24 in Auburn, Wash. The final round of competition will begin Saturday at 8 a.m.
