NORMAN, Okla. - The University of Oklahoma men's golf team, ranked 16th by Mastercard, is currently in fourth place after two rounds at the 2001 Big 12 Men's Golf Championships in Hutchinson, Kan. The Sooners battled though wind gusts of 30 miles-per-hour at Prairie Dunes Country Club to shoot a combined score of 616 (+56). OU leads defending Big 12 Tournament champion Oklahoma State by four strokes and is 10 strokes off the lead held by Baylor heading into final-round action.

Individually for OU, senior Kelsey Cline and sophomore John Kidwell are currently tied for fifth place overall. Both players shot rounds of 77 and 76 for a total of 153 (+13). One shot back is Martin Flores who is tied for eighth place. The freshman from Mansfield, Texas, carded the lowest round of the day for OU after firing a second-round 74 to finish with a 154 (+14).

OU junior Cody Freeman shot identical rounds of 78 and currently stands tied for 17th with a score of 156 (+16). Sophomore Matt Cohn rounded out the scoring for OU by carding a 168. He is tied for 53rd.

OU will be looking to claim its first Big 12 Tournament title when play resumes Tuesday at 8 a.m.
