NORMAN, Okla.- The University of Oklahoma men’s golf team slipped to third place on day two of the Mason Rudolph Championship with an 8-over-par 292 on Saturday in Franklin, Tenn.

The Sooners (-2) entered the day tied for first place with Memphis after a 10-under-par opening round, but failed to repeat Friday’s success. Memphis carded an even par round Saturday to stay in front of the 17-team field at -10. OU also trails second-place South Carolina, which shot a tournament-best 5 under par Saturday to stand at -4 overall.

“Not a good day for us,” said OU head coach Ryan Hybl. “We had no momentum from the start and didn’t finish well.”

Senior Ryan Sirman (E) led Oklahoma in round two, finishing with a second straight even-par 71 at the 7,100-yard Vanderbilt Legends Club South Course. Sirman recorded two birdies on the day and is tied for 17th place.

After a 6-under par first round that had him atop the leaderboard entering the day, sophomore Will Kropp shot a 3-over 74 and dropped to a third-place tie. At 3-under for the tournament, Kropp, whose second round included an eagle on the par-5 14th, trails leader Jack Belote of Memphis by four strokes.

Junior Riley Pumphrey finished the day with a 2-over 73 and is tied with Sirman in 17th place. Freshman Michael Schoolcraft and senior Liam Logan each carded a 3-over-par 74. Schoolcraft is tied for 25th place at +1, while Logan is tied for 54th at +6.

“We need to get off to a good start tomorrow and apply some pressure,” said Hybl. “But we need all five guys in the game.”

The Sooners will start Sunday’s final round of the Mason Rudolph Championship at 8:05 a.m. CT. Live scoring is available at Golfstat.com.
