The University of Oklahoma men's gymnastics team received a signed letter-of-intent today from Curtis O'Rorke, a native of Moore, Okla. and a star at the junior level for the Oklahoma Elite gymnastics club. He has competed at Norman's Bart Conner's Gymnastics Academy in the past and is joining OU Head Coach Mark Williams, with whom he has worked since he was nine years old.

O'Rorke, a member of the 1997 U.S. Junior National Team, finished third in the high bar competition at the most recent Junior National Championships. He also won the all-around competition at the 1999 Junior Pan American Club Championships in Costa Rica.

He battled thumb, wrist and back injuries during his sophomore and junior years in high school, however he is now completely healthy and the Sooners are excited to have him.

"We are excited to welcome Curtis as the newest member of the Oklahoma gymnastics family," said Williams. "He and I have worked together for a number of years and in Jock Stevens, Heath Mueller and Josh Landis, he will be reunited with many of his teammates from Bart Conner's. We're hoping his time at Oklahoma will be an extension of his outstanding junior career."
