LOS ANGELES – The University of Oklahoma volleyball team saw its season come to an end Friday evening with a 3-1 loss to Tulsa (22-25, 25-18, 22-25, 19-25). The Sooners end the year 21-12 and graduate four seniors in Brianne Barker, Suzy Boulavsky, Kylie Cowan, Caitlin Higgins and Carlee Roethlisberger.

Oklahoma’s defense was a positive for the Sooners on the night. OU out-dug the Golden Hurricane 80-72 and out-blocked TU 9.0-2.0. Tulsa dropped 17 more kills than OU’s 52, despite the Sooners’ hitting .278 to Tulsa’s .235.

A trio of Sooners led OU with 10 kills each. Boulavsky and Sallie McLaurin hit .400 each to go along with their 10 kills. Morgan Reynolds also had 10 kills, hitting. 276. Brianne Barker had the 79th and final double-double of her career with 45 assists and 17 digs. Maria Fernanda had a match-high 24 digs as one of four OU’s players with double-digit digs.

In addition to Fernanda’s 24 and Barker’s 17, Caitlin Higgins had 11 digs and Mindy Gowen added 10. McLaurin led all players with five block assists, while Boulavsky had three.

Oklahoma only managed one service ace on the night, and the Golden Hurricane totaled seven with Diana Silva leading the way with three.

Tyler Henderson hit .439 with 30 kills, the most by an opponent since Henderson scored 33 against OU on Dec. 3, 2010. Kellie Culbertson had 17 digs and Kelsey Hancock added 11 as the Golden Hurricane had 69 kills and a .235 hitting percentage.

Jessica Adams led the Golden Hurricane with 20 digs, and Hancock had two block solos.

The two-hour match featured 33 ties and just eight lead changes with seven of those coming in the first and third sets.
