MONTGOMERY, Ala.  - The Alabama Crimson Tide defeated the Oklahoma men's tennis team, 4-1, on Friday evening at the Blue-Gray National Classic.

Due to heavy rain in the Montgomery area on Friday morning, all matches were delayed.  No doubles matches are set to be played unless needed.

The No. 46 Sooners (5-6) could not overcome No. 26 Alabama (12-6) as the Tide took the first set in each singles match.

Saketh Myneni defeated Andrei Daescu, at No. 1 singles, 6-3, (1-6), 6-2.

Ionut Beleleu put OU on the board as he defeated Mathieu Thibaudeau, (3-6), 7-6 at No. 2 doubles

"We did not play up to our potential today and that was what made the match," head coach Paul Lockwood said.  "Alabama played excellent tennis and made the shots they needed to come away with a victory."

Sergey Avdeyev was beaten at No. 3 singles by Sammy Struyf, 6-0, 7-5.  Alex Joitoiu lost his No. 4 singles match to give Alabama the lead, 3-1.  Joitoiu was defeated by Daniel Buikema, 6-3, 7-6.

Alabama took the match, 4-1, after Javier Bes defeated Vlad Marinescu at No. 5 singles, 6-2, 6-4.

Federico Chavarria and Michael Jung did not finish their match.

"We have a little time off before we travel to Jacksonville and I think we look forward to getting on the practice court and correcting our mistakes," Lockwood continued.

Next up, the Sooners travel to Jacksonville, Fla., to take on Jacksonville on Thursday, March 20.
