NORMAN, Okla. - The University of Oklahoma's senior Angela Stroup and junior Viviana Mracnova were named the 2000 Big 12 Conference women's tennis No. 1 doubles position champions by the league office earlier this week. The duo compiled a 9-2 record against conference opponents to win the title. Earning runner up position honors at the No. 6 singles slot was Tobias Kronlein of the men's tennis team.
Kronlien, a native of Gathenburg, Sweden, boasts an overall singles record of 20-6 and a 17-5 mark when playing at the bottom of the lineup. He earned the honor with a 5-2 record against Big 12 opponents.
Mracnova, who's been named to two all-conference teams, also earned her third Academic All-Big 12 honor earlier this week. The Zvolen, Slovakia, native played the No. 1 singles and doubles positions for the Sooners. This year, she's produced an overall singles record of 16-12 and was 19-7 in doubles action.
Stroup is making her first appearance on postseason honors list. The Tulsa, Okla., native had an 18-6 doubles record and 11-14 singles mark this year.
