EL PASO, Texas -- University of Oklahoma officials announced today that the Tickets for Troops opportunity will end at 3 p.m., Tuesday.
The program allows fans to purchase tickets to the Sooners' appearance in the Brut Sun Bowl and then designate them for donation to men and women in the United States Armed Forces. OU Athletics Ticket Office personnel will facilitate the donation at Fort Bliss, which is located near the game site of El Paso, Texas, Tuesday evening.
The Tickets for Troops promotion enters this week with more than 700 tickets sold.
"We've seen a heart-warming response from Sooner fans," said OU Vice President and Director of Athletics Joe Castiglione. "We look forward to sharing the generosity of so many with our soldiers when we visit Fort Bliss on Tuesday."
All remaining tickets are priced at $40 each.
Those wanting to purchase tickets and attend the game themselves also still have that opportunity. OU has approximately 600 tickets remaining. They are on sale through the athletics department ticket office located at Gaylord Family - Oklahoma Memorial Stadium in Norman, over the phone at (405) 325-4668 or online at SoonerSports.com.
If any tickets remain on game day, they will be sold at the Sun Bowl on a cash only basis. General tickets that were available through the Sun Bowl are sold out.
Oklahoma and Stanford square off in the 76th Brut Sun Bowl this Thursday, Dec. 31, at 1:11 CST, 12:11 MST.
