NORMAN, Okla. -- As part of continuing coverage of Oklahoma baseball throughout the summer, will bring fans weekly updates of current Sooners competing in the numerous summer baseball leagues around the country.  Links to each player's statistics are provided by clicking on the individual names listed below.

This week is the third installment and it finds Scott Rooker and Jared Freeman of the Highland Park Blue Sox playing solid baseball in the Texas Collegiate League.

Rooker has seen the most action out of any member of the Blue Sox this season, participating in 31 contests.  In that span, he has collected 14 RBI on 28 hits, including three homers and seven doubles.  While Rooker ranks seventh on the team in RBI, Freeman is slightly ahead with 15 RBI on the season.  Freeman has seen action in 27 games and is hitting .301 (28-for-93) with five doubles.

Brent Hodge is also playing  for the Highland Park Blue Sox while Russell Raley, also of the Texas Collegiate League, is on the Graham Roughnecks but is currently inactive with the same stress fracture that forced him to miss the Sooners' 2005 postseason run.

In the Cape Cod Baseball League, Daniel McCutchen of the Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox and Will Savage of the Brewster Whitecaps are both scheduled to make starts on Friday, July 22.   Also on the Red Sox, Jackson Williams has played in 14 games while Kody Kaiser's playing time has been limited to six games with shin splints.

Others participating in summer leagues include:

Chad Lembeck and Blake Mitchell (San Diego Mavericks) and P.J. Sandoval (Southern California Fire) of the Southern California Baseball League.

In the Alaska Baseball League, Kevin Duke is pitching for the Mat-Su Miners and Steven Guerra is throwing for the Anchorage Bucs.

Another OU hurler, Tyler Adkins, of the Thunder Bay Border Cats, is competing in the Northwoods League.

Finally, slugger Joe Dunigan of the Dupage Dragons is playing in the Central Illinois Collegiate League.

Several former Sooners are also playing in the Major League Baseball and its minor league affiliates.  Most recently, Brian Shackelford picked up his first professional victory after throwing a 1-2-3 ninth inning to defeat the Chicago Cubs on Thursday, July 21.
