Men's Tennis Drops First Road Match To No. 62 New Mexico

NORMAN, Okla. - In its second match of the season and first road match, the Oklahoma men's tennis team (2-1) was defeated, 7-0, by New Mexico (3-2) on Tuesday, Feb. 4, in Albuquerque, N.M. The Lobos are ranked No. 62 by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association.

The Sooners started strong at No. 2 and No. 4 singles with juniors Tobias Kronlein and Chris Mitchell winning their first sets, 6-4, but dropping the next two to lose the match to David Kowalski and Michael Polasek, respectively. In No. 1 doubles play, Kronlein and Mitchell gave Brent Salazar and Ryan Stotland a challenge, but lost 8-6.

Oklahoma is back in action on Friday, Feb. 8, againt Southwest Missuori State. Match time is set for 5 p.m. at the Oaktree Country Club in Edmond, Okla. (700 W. Country Club Dr.). The Sooners play at home again on Sunday, Feb. 10, against Northern Iowa. Match time is set for noon at the Oaktree Country Club.
