NORMAN, Okla.-- On Friday, Sept. 25, the Sooner soccer team will host "Kick for the Cure" at the OU Soccer Complex in honor of raising breast cancer awareness.  OU will battle Texas in the Big 12 opener at 7 p.m.

The first 1,000 fans will receive "Kick for the Cure" pink bracelets and are encouraged to wear pink to the contest.  In addition, the Sooners will wear special pink jerseys in honor of the event.

“One of the benefits of being involved with athletics at this level is that you have a chance to impact people's live for the better," said OU Head Coach Nicole Nelson. "We view our "Kick for the Cure" day as an opportunity to raise awareness for a very important cause.  Finding a cure for cancer is especially close to our hearts this year with the loss of Javier Restrepo (son of head volleyball coach Santiago Restrepo). Friday is another recognition and celebration of his life and all who have lost the battle to this horrible disease.”

Other promotions for Friday's game include:
- First 500 fans receive pink glow sticks
- Special giveaways for fans wearing pink
- $.50 hot dog and coke night while supplies last
- Fireworks after OU scores a goal
- Post-game autographs.

On Sunday, the Sooners will host No. 13 Texas A&M at 1 p.m. and the first 250 fans will receive a 2009 OU team photo.  In addition, there will be a special mascot halftime performance.
