Recap |  Box Score |  Notes

Texas Tech Head Coach Kristy Curry
On what changed down the stretch
“I’m sure I’ll go back and watch it a couple times tonight. I thought we had some poor possessions. We had some shots roll out and some poor shot selection. We got pushed underneath and lost some key offensive rebounds but everyone gets pushed underneath. You have to credit Oklahoma and how they played down the stretch. Our kids played with a lot of effort tonight and we have to carry that on the next five games.”

On frustrating Oklahoma in their offensive rhythm
“We tried to throw a lot of different looks at Courtney (Paris). We used Dominic (Seals) for her speed in circling her and then went to Jordan Barncastle some and Kierra (Mallard) just really used her physical presence. As a freshman, she really held her own tonight.”

On her team’s effort tonight
“This team has to understand that we have to be consistent with our efforts. It seems like we have to have adversity to have this kind of effort. With these next five games, we can’t do that. I’ve never questioned how much these kids care. This is it for this group of seniors. The effort of these two sitting beside me (Dominic Seals and Jordan Murphree), I’m not sure I’ve ever seen Jordan (Murphree) play as well as she has as a Lady Raider in the last six minutes at Nebraska and 40 minutes tonight.”

On gearing up for the next five games
“We’ll continue to go back and teach. It starts with our quarterback (Maria Moore). We have to have her. She brings a lot to our team and we’re definitely different with her back there unlike against Nebraska. If you can’t tell these kids are ready to fight, then something’s wrong with you.”

On whether the outcome of the season will best represent her team this season
“No doubt, it is not how you start, but how you finish. Everyone always remembers how you finish. We have to be consistent these last five games and continue to fight, fight, fight.”

Texas Tech Junior Guard Jordan Murphree
On how they altered their defense to defend her down the stretch
“I think they put (Danielle) Robinson on me, face-guarding, so that the ball couldn’t come back to me. It was just key possessions in the last few minutes that really hurt us.”

Texas Tech Senior Forward Dominic Seals
On a more physical second half
“They got a little more aggressive and started going to Courtney (Paris) more. We just had to stay in and play hard.”

Oklahoma Head Coach Sherri Coale
On her team’s overall performance tonight
“Nothing comes easy in the Big 12 conference. I thought Texas Tech played terrific. Jordan Murphree was unstoppable. Her shooting was off the charts. I am proud of my kids. We showed a lot of poise and discipline. It was a tale of two halves. We turned it over 13 times in the first half and only three in the second half. That’s the key. Don’t pass it to the other team.”

On her team’s resiliency
“Poise is a big thing. I think it’s the difference especially amidst all the chaos and the storm. Ironically, we didn’t have that in the first half and you could tell in our turnovers and then the score.”

On talking about the physical game down low at halftime
“No, we didn’t really talk about that at half. We talked about going in the post more and trying to take more opportunities to re-post with moving the ball around more. When it goes inside, kick it back out and we’ll come back to you. That’s really what we stressed when it game to our inside game.”

On the different defensive looks Texas Tech showed tonight
“I don’t think there’s anything anyone can throw at us that we haven’t seen this year unless they bring extra guys off the bench.”

On the key free throws down the stretch in the second half
“It’s huge. The thing is people always say how poor of a free-throw shooter Courtney (Paris) is but I would like someone to go back to the books and see how she is in clutch play. She has the uncanny ability to be huge in that situation and convert for us. She did it again today. She was a big factor of the second-half.”

Oklahoma Senior Center Courtney Paris
On the difference in the second half
“We paid more attention to little things and didn’t turn the ball over. When we don’t turn the ball over, we can get rhythm into our offense. But Texas Tech played really well.”

On the difference in last year’s Tech team to this year
“We’re used to always having a tough game against Texas Tech. Tonight, (Jordan) Murphree made a lot of great shots and Dominic (Seals) is definitely stronger and a lot better this year.”

Oklahoma Junior Forward Amanda Thompson
On the difference in the defensive effort in the second half
“We made a couple of adjustments and had much better help-defense. We just had to buckle down and have some defensive pride.”
