Lloyd Noble Center
OU Head Coach Sherri Coale
On the game:
"We played tough defense and had some good breaks that our defense created. Sometimes there's a lot of pressure on senior night, but I think the seniors handled it well. I think it was a blessing in disguise that we had so many seniors this year."
"I think early in the game we did a nice job on the boards, and in the second half Texas Tech came out strong on the boards, but we won the battle."
On cutting down the net:
"What a fitting end for the regular season for the team (winning the Big 12 regular season title)."
On the postseason:
"I hope our fans give us the momentum we need (at the first and second rounds held at Lloyd Noble) to help us make it down to San Antonio. There will be nothing there that we haven't been exposed to this season."
On the seniors:
"I have not been looking forward to saying goodbye to the six seniors, but we're not done playing yet. What is going to be hard is when the season is over, and I won't ever see them run out of the tunnel again. These girls took this program from the bottom of the Big 12 and took it to the top and put it among the nation's elite. One constant over the past five years has been the girls' stewardship. They fight for and cheer for one another. I will miss them as people more than anything."
Senior Guard Stacey Dales
On the game:
"Texas Tech played hard and they were very physical. They came to play and they gave us a challenge tonight."
On senior night:
"It is a wonderful feeling to have the support of Norman and Oklahoma. It was an emotional night. The fans have been great and I'm glad we have made it this far, it has been a great time. What I will miss most is everyone here, my teammates and my coaches."
Senior Guard LaNeishea Caufield
On the game and senior night:
"Tonight was just extraordinary. It's been really fun playing here for the last four years. Tonight was full of emotion. I think that we were all about to cry before the game while they called our names for the starting lineup. To be able to win the way we did made the experience even that much better."
Texas Tech Quotes
Texas Tech Coach Marsha Sharp
On the Game:
"I'm disappointed with our shooting performance tonight. We did not take advantage of open shots and that was the difference. We had chances to stay in the game, but could not put the ball in the basket. It seemed like we did not have the confidence to play on this court with OU."
"First of all congratulations to Oklahoma on winning the Big 12 championship. They deserve to be a number one seed. They battled through the toughest conference and they earned it."
On March Madness:
"Hopefully we will be ready. The Big 12 has gotten us ready for the tournament. Women's basketball can't get much tougher than the play in our conference this year."
On Oklahoma Senior Guard Stacey Dales:
"She is a terrific player. She gets her teammates involved very well. She is obviously an All-American. I have a lot of respect for her and wish her the best."
Texas Tech Sophomore Guard Jia Perkins
On the Game:
"This would have been a big win for us. We had some chances but couldn't convert. Oklahoma is a great team and they showed that tonight. We just have to prepare for the post season now."
