NORMAN, Okla. - The University of Oklahoma women’s golf team will compete in the Windy City Collegiate Championships, hosted by Northwestern University on Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 6-7. The 54-hole tournament will be held at the 6,350-yard, par-72 Evanston Golf Club in Skokie, Ill. Thirty-six holes will be played on Monday, followed by 18 holes on Tuesday.
The tournament will be the second of the season for the Sooners. They finished in 11th place at the Ron Moore Women’s Intercollegiate in Highlands Ranch, Colo., two weeks ago.
The top spot in the Sooner lineup belongs to senior Kendall Dye, who fired a three-round 226 (+10) in Colorado, tying for 19th. Occupying the No.2 spot is sophomore Ellen Mueller, who started all 11 tournaments of the 2006-07 season and finished in 29th place at the Ron Moore Intercollegiate to start the year.
“We are looking forward to this lineup,” OU head coach Carol Ludvigson said of her golfers. “We hope to find some stability within our lineup after this trip. I hope to see a high finish for the team and high individual performances from our leaders, Kendall and Ellen.”
Sophomore transfer Sara Hemingway will also tee off with the team as she makes her second consecutive tournament appearance as a Sooner. Junior Chelsey Collins will make her first appearance of the 2008-09 season, while her sister, freshman Brooke Collins, who will look to record her second straight solid finish. She made an impressive collegiate debut at the Ron Moore Intercollegiate by placing 24th with a 228 (+12).

Oklahoma will compete against 12 other squads, including five top-50 teams and two Big 12 teams. The field includes No.24 Arizona, East Carolina, Illinois, Iowa State, No.49 Michigan, Northwestern, No.26 Purdue, Texas, No.42 TCU, Texas State, UNC-Wilmington and No. 27 UNLV.
