Sooners Begin Final Fall Tournament

NORMAN, Okla.--Oklahoma men’s tennis team will wrap up its fall season this weekend at the Rebel Classic hosted by the University of Nevada-Las Vegas, Nov. 3-5. 

Representing Oklahoma in the tournament will be juniors Federico Chavarria and Ryan Thomas.  Chavarria is 3-3 in singles play for the Sooners and went undefeated in Oklahoma’s fall season opener, the Navy Invitational. Thomas, who is 4-4, advanced to the consolation quarterfinals of the ITA/Central Regional, only to be defeated by the tournament champion. The two teamed up in doubles for the Navy Invitational and finished 3-0.

Chavarria and Thomas will face players from Illinois, Arkansas, UNLV, Fresno State, BYU and Fresno Pacific, an NAIA program.

Tournament play will begin at 9 a.m. Friday at the Darling Memorial Tennis Center across town from UNLV.

Results will be posted on SoonerSports.com as soon as they become available.
