NORMAN, Okla. -- SoonerSports.com presents this Sooner Spolight feature on junior Matt Lovelady. The Modesto, CA native will join two former teammates at OU.
 
The right-handed pitcher transferred from Modesto Junior College where he was selected as a second team all conference honoree.
 
The Sooners open the 2006 season at the Texas-Pan American Tournament in Edinburg, Texas, against Texas State on Feb. 3.  The opener is followed by contests against host UTPA and Lamar, Feb. 4 and 5 respectively.

No. 28 has been my number my whole life. This year I am No. 23, my brother wears the same number.

No superstitions, but there is a respect for the game when I step over those lines.

Winning a state championship in high school and getting offered a scholarship to play at OU
