NORMAN, Okla. - Senior Ana-Maria Constantinescu will make her first fall tournament appearance for OU women's tennis this season as the nation's 69th-ranked singles player begins competition at the 2010 Riviera/ITA Women's All-American Championships Tuesday in Pacific Palisades, Calif.
Constantinescu will face N.C. State's Sandhya Nagaraj in the first round of the Qualifying Round at 12:45 p.m. This will be Constantinescu's third-straight appearance at the All-American Championships.
"Ana has worked hard these past two months to prepare for the All-Americans," OU head coach David Mullins said. "She is in great shape and is looking forward to competing against the other top players in the country."
Constantinescu enters her senior year following another stellar season in 2009-2010. Constantinescu won the ITA Central Regional Championship in both singles and doubles last fall, was named All-Big 12 for the third-straight season and finished in the top-five in the Big 12 at the No. 1 singles spot.
The All-American tournament consists of three rounds over a seven-day span. The Pre-Qualifying Round began Sunday with eight individuals advancing to the Qualifying Round.
Participants in each round were selected by the ITA based on national rankings. Eight winners from the Qualifying Round will advance to the Main Draw.
