NORMAN, Okla. -- The Oklahoma women’s golf team is in third place at the 16-team Jeannine McHaney Invitational in Lubbock, Texas, after playing 36 of the event's 54 holes on Monday.  OU, which shot a two-round 589 (+13), trails co-leaders SMU and San Francisco by seven strokes.

Junior Kelly Jacques is currently in the top-10 with only one round remaining. Jacques is tied for seventh place after shooting a 145 (+1), five strokes more than individual co-leaders Kate Ackerson of SMU and Sara Wikstrom of Arkansas-Little Rock. Jacques carded rounds of 73 (+1) and 72 (E).

Senior Megan Goodwin is tied for 12th place after shooting rounds of 76 (+4) and 71 (-1). Goodwin is at +3.

“Our second round went really well. That’s the lowest score we’ve posted in awhile,” OU head coach Carol Ludvigson said of the Sooners' 288.  It was the best score of the day, regardless of round.

Sophomore Kendall Dye shot a 150 (+6) and is tied for 23rd place while senior Jaclyn Stelzer is tied for 37th place after shooting rounds of  73 (+1) and 77 (+5). Sophomore Staci Smoot carded an 84 (+12) in the first round, but rebounded with a second-round 71 (-1).

“I was thrilled to see Staci come back,” said Ludvigson. “This tournament has been promising with the fourth and fifth players turning in such low scores. We’re feeling really optimistic and excited about tomorrow. We’re ready to go.”

Sydney Lee and true freshman Andrea Sellmeyer are competing as individuals in the McHaney Invitational. Lee carded a 155 (+11) and is tied for 45th place and Sellmeyer is in 57th place after shooting a 157 (+13).

Final-round action at the par-72, 6,384-yard Rawls Course will begin Tuesday at 8:15 a.m. CDT.
