Westlund Posts Provisional Mark In Pole Vault

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - OU sophomore Michael Westlund cleared 17-8.5 to finish second to OU volunteer coach Kurt Hanna in the pole vault competition of the Razorback Invitational held tonight at the Randall Tyson Track Center. The height by Westlund marks the second week in a row that he has cleared an NCAA provisional height.

The pole vault was dominated by jumpers with Sooner ties as Brett Corlett finished fourth with a vault of 16-2.75.

Several other Sooners had solid performances in the meet. LaBoris Bean finished second in the men's unseeded 400-meter dash with a season-best 48.20. Janel Hayes jumped a season-best 19-3.25 in the long jump to finish fifth. Sophomore LaKisha Robinson ran a season-best 57.02 to finish sixth in the women's unseeded 400-meter dash. The women's distance medley relay finished sixth with a time of 12:57.21.

The meet continues on Saturday with a number of Sooners scheduled to be in the field. OU will return home to host the inaugural J.D. Martin Invitational on Feb. 3.
