Norman, Okla. - The 19th-ranked University of Oklahoma men's tennis squad downed the 25th-ranked Indiana University, 6-1, on Sunday afternoon inside the Gregg Wadley Indoor Tennis Pavilion.

"I think one of the key things for us is that we are playing better doubles," John Roddick said. "Today was a good test for us because Indiana has always played good doubles and they chopped us up last year in the doubles point, so, it is encouraging to be able to win all three doubles matches."

The Sooners (4-1) jumped out to a 6-0 advantage after OU took the doubles point and won victories at No. 1, 3, 4, 5 and 6 singles before the Hoosiers (6-3) earned their only win of the day at the No. 2 spot.

In doubles, Oklahoma set the bar with a 1-0 lead after winning all three doubles matches against Indiana.

Oklahoma's 14th-ranked Costin Paval and Dane Webb struck first in doubles after defeating the Hoosiers Isade Juneau and Jeremy Langer at the No. 1 spot, 8-6.

Tsvetan Mihov and Peerakit Siributwong earned the Sooners the doubles point after the duo earned an 8-6 victory over Indiana's Alastair Barnes and Josh MacTaggart at the No. 2 spot.

OU's Lawrence Formentera and David Pultr defeated Indiana's Will Kendall and Stephen Vogl, 9-8 (5), to sweep the doubles matches.

The Sooners continued their momentum in singles action where OU won five matches in straight-sets over the Hoosiers.

Paval, ranked No. 4, struck first and gave the Sooners a 2-0 lead after he quickly downed IU's Juneau, 6-0, 6-2, at the No. 1 spot.

Oklahoma's Mihov, a sophomore ranked No. 39, handed Indiana's Langer a 6-1, 6-3 loss at the No. 3 spot, giving OU a 3-0 lead.

The Sooners clinched the match after Pultr, a senior from the Czech Republic, defeated Vogl in straight sets, 6-4, 6-3, at the No. 6 position.

Oklahoma continued the streak after 63rd-ranked Webb defeated Kendall at the No. 5 position in identical set fashion, 6-4.

Peerakit Siributwong, ranked No. 38, earned the fifth point for the Sooners against Dimitrije Tasic, 6-3, 7-6 (5).

In the final match, Indiana's MacTaggard earned IU's only win who defeated OU's Alcorta in two close sets. MacTaggart took the first set, 6-7 (7), and earned a 6-4 victory in the second.

"In singles, we have traditionally been pretty good against teams like Indiana," Roddick said. "Today we were disciplined and won a lot of straight set matches, and only ended up losing one, so it was good. The guys are doing things the right way and the results are starting to show that."

Next up, Roddick's squad will face No. 12 Pepperdine on Sunday, Feb. 26 at 11:00 a.m., inside the Gregg Wadley Indoor Tennis Pavilion.
