Peel and Carson Lead Sooners In Fayetteville

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - OU seniors Alesha Peel and Bambi Carson registered NCAA Provisional qualifying marks in their specialties to highlight the Sooners' performance in the Razorback Invitational.

Peel finished fourth in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.35 to post a provisional mark in the second consecutive week. Carson finished second in the shot put with a 50-4.75 to finish second. That mark bettered her earlier provisional mark of 48-10.75 which she set in the first meet of the season.

Other top performances by Sooners included a third-place finish by Staneshia Bell in the 60-meter dash, an eighth-place finish by Alaina Dearman in the 800-meter run, an eighth-place finish in the 60-meter hurdles by Sande Swaby, a seventh-place finish in the pole vault by Leslie Dunlap, an eighth-place finish by the Sooner women in the 1600-meter relay, an eighth-place finish by Ernest Lewis in the 200-meter dash, a fifth-place finish by Joey Scott in the 60-meter hurdles and a sixth-place finish by LaBoris Bean in that same event, and a fourth-place finish in the men's 1600-meter relay.

OU will return home to host the inaugural J.D. Martin Invitational on Feb. 3.
