NORMAN, Okla. -- The University of Oklahoma volleyball team secured its second straight win Saturday afternoon when it swept West Virginia in three (25-23, 25-10, 25-20) at WVU Coliseum in Morgantown, W.Va.

"We did a great job today," said Oklahoma head coach Santiago Restrepo. "We have been talking about the offense going out on the court and battling hard, and that is what we did today."

The victory marked the second series sweep for the Sooners on the year, and the 13th three-set win for OU throughout the 2012 season.

Oklahoma now improves to 18-8 overall, and 7-4 in Big 12 play, while West Virginia drops to 8-18 on the year, and 0-12 in Conference action.

"It was a big win for our team, because we did everything that we were supposed to do, and we did it well," remarked Restrepo. "We had 16 kills in the first, 15 kills in the second and 18 kills in the third set - that is what I have been looking for."

It was a slow start for the Sooners as the Mountaineers continuously fought throughout the first set to close the gap. Oklahoma jumped ahead to a 7-2 lead to start, but WVU caught momentum bringing the score within two at 10-8, and later within one at 14-13. The one point deficit was all it took for the Sooners to push into another gear, as they went on a 5-0 run to go ahead 19-13.

The Mountaineers tied the opening set at 21-21, but the Sooners pulled together a 3-0 scoring run to go up 34-22 in the closing minutes. WVU would hold off set point twice, but a kill from Kierra Holst secured the first set victory, 25-23, and lead the way for the duration of the match.

Two Sooners combined to hit double digits with the efforts of Sallie McLaurin and Tara Dunn, who struck 14 and 10 kills on the night, respectively. The duo helped lead Oklahoma to its best three-set hitting percentage on the year at .432 after it stuck down 49 of 95 attempts with just eight errors.

In addition to her 10 kills, Dunn added 10 digs to record the second double-double of her sophomore campaign, and 10th of her career in the Crimson and Cream. The outside hitter inked the first double-double of 2012 in the Sooners first contest against the Mountaineers on Sept. 29, after she notched 10 kills and 11 digs.

"It was a great performance for Tara," explained Restrepo. "It's good to see her consistently put up numbers - both offensively and defensively. That's what we would like out of her all the time."

Since the first match in August, freshman setter Julia Doyle has led the Sooners in assists, and she continued to do so Saturday after she totaled 38 on the afternoon.

On top of her offensive efforts, Doyle added five kills off of 10 attempts with just one error to hit .400 - for her second-straight output of .400 or more - added one of OU's two service aces and co-led the team in blocks with three against West Virginia.

Sophomore middle blocker Grace Whitley co-led Doyle with three blocks on the afternoon. Along with her defensive play, Whitley totaled a team- and season-high performance on the front line after she successfully swung down seven of 10 attempts with no errors to hit .700 on the afternoon.

Senior libero Maria Fernanda led the Sooners back court for the 25th time this season after she totaled 11 digs against the Mountaineers.

The Sooners head to Waco, Texas, Wednesday night in a 7 p.m. showdown against the Baylor Bears.
