Nine starters return from the 2010 SMU team that posted a fourth-place finish in Conference USA with a 6-4-1 mark (11-7-4 overall). SMU was picked to finish sixth in the 2011 conference’s preseason poll.
The Sooners are 2-3-1 all-time against SMU after the last meeting in 2004 ended in a 2-2 tie at the OU Soccer Complex. In each of the five meetings prior to the tie, the game was decided by one goal. OU is 1-1-1 against SMU in Norman.

For the 14th time in 19 Bedlam meetings, the rivalry game was decided by one goal or less. Unfortunately for the Sooners, Friday’s game resulted in a 1-0 win for the Cowgirls. OU and OSU were scoreless in the first half and In the second half, the Cowgirls posted the game-winning goal in the 79th minute.
The Sooners remain home to conclude a stretch that includes five of the first six games of the season played in Norman (all six in the state of Oklahoma). On Friday, Sept. 2, OU welcomes Oral Roberts to John Crain Field for a 7 p.m. game. The Sooners won the last meeting in the series, 2-0, in 2009 at home. OU leads ORU 10-2 overall in the series that began in 1997.
On Sunday, Sept. 4, OU looks to avenge a 2010 loss at Missouri State when the Bears arrive for a 7 p.m. game. The Sooners won the first three meetings with Missouri State prior to the 2010 defeat in Springfield.
Player to Watch - Dria Hampton
The junior midfielder leads OU with three points after tallying a goal and an assist during the opening weekend of 2011. She ranks fourth in the Big 12 in points after two games. Hampton scored the ninth goal of her career in the 5-0 win over UAB on Friday and then assisted on OU’s lone goal (the 10th of her career) in the 3-1 loss to Tennessee on Sunday.
