NORMAN, Okla. - Nolan Johnson, a senior guard on the University of Oklahoma men's basketball team, will participate as a member of the Big 12's second 12-member all-star team which will tour Europe in August.

Under the direction of Colorado head coach Ricardo Patton, the Big 12 All-Star Team will consist of one player from each conference school. Johnson, who averaged 10.0 points, 5.1 rebounds and 1.7 assists while starting in 31 games for the Sooners last year, is one of six seniors on the all-star squad. The Brooklyn, N.Y., native shot an impressive .559 from the field (.627 in league play) and scored in double figures in 13 of Oklahoma's last 15 games. He averaged 13.2 points and 6.1 boards over those final 15 contests.

The Big 12 All-Stars will report to Dallas August 5 and practice two days prior to their journey overseas August 7. The team will play six games in Austria and Slovakia before returning August 18.

Texas Tech head coach James Dickey guided the first Big 12 All-Stars to a 4-2 record in August 1998 while touring England, France, Belgium and Germany. Former OU point guard Michael Johnson was a member of that squad.
