NORMAN, Okla. – University of Oklahoma softball freshman Keilani Ricketts (San Jose, Calif.) has been named the Big 12 Pitcher of the Week, the league office announced this afternoon. It marks the second time this season Ricketts has been honored for her performance in the circle.
Ricketts went 2-1 on the week with the only loss to No. 13 Oklahoma State (3-2) and wins against No. 21 Texas A&M (6-0 and 9-4). She threw a complete game shutout and earned a win in relief to help OU to its first sweep in College Station since 2002.
In the A&M series, Ricketts allowed four hits, seven walks and posted a 0.00 earned run average while fanning 22 batters. She also became the first pitcher to strike out 15 or more batters in a single game since Brea Moore recorded the school-record of 17 in 1995.
On the week, she tallied a 0.00 ERA in 16.0 innings pitched as she struck out 33 and held her opponents to a .143 batting average. Ricketts now has 20 wins on the season and has moved into eighth on the OU single season strike outs list (209).
