NORMAN, Okla. - Senior Cody Freeman (Arnett, Okla.) and junior John Kidwell (Dallas, Texas) were two of ten golfers named to the All-Big 12 Conference Men's Golf Team Friday. The team was voted on by the league head coaches.

Freeman, who was recently named to the All-Big 12 Academic second team, was awarded all-conference honors for the second straight year. He has started every tournament this season while maintaining a stroke average of 72.44 overall which is second best on the team. He's also coming off his best finish of the season at the Big 12 Championship where he tied for fourth while shooting a second round 66. Throughout the season he has led the Sooners at three tournaments including the Ping/Golfweek Preview, Morris Williams and ASU Thunderbird/Savane Invitational while posting four top-10 finishes.

This is Kidwell's first time to garner conference honors. He is in the midst of a breakout season in which he's maintained the lowest scoring average on the team with a 72.13 (71.47 in spring action). The junior from Dallas, Texas, is also coming off a career-best second-place showing at the Big 12 Championships where he set the Big 12 Championship record for lowest round with a career-best 64. After finishing regulation tied for first, Kidwell barely missed claiming his first individual championship as a Sooner. He hit his stride just as the fall season was ending at the Long Cove Invitational, leading OU for the first time in his career. He continued that momentum at the beginning of the spring, tying for fourth in Hawaii and 11th at the Puerto Rico Classic.

Freeman and Kidwell will be looking to give OU its first team championship of the season when the Sooners compete at The Maxwell in Ardmore, Okla., on May 11-12.
