Women's Gymnastics Places Second In Iowa State Tri-Meet

AMES, Iowa -- The University of Oklahoma women's gymnastics team finished second in a tri-meet Friday in Ames, Iowa. No. 9 Iowa State won the meet with a final tally of 196.150, followed by No. 17 OU (195.375) and No. 10 Minnesota (195.025).

Oklahoma sophomore Leticia Ishii won the all-around with a score of 39.475, her fourth AA title on the year and the eighth of her career. Junior Mariana Goncalves took first place on the bars (9.950) while sophomore Leah Mueller continued her excellence on the vault, garnering her fifth vault title on the season as she finished with a 9.850.

However, it wasn't enough as the Cyclones captured the first two spots on the floor exercise (Shelly Kringen and Jessy Smith, respectively) and won by a 0.775 margin. Minnesota's Jenny Alf and ISU's Stephanie Sweitzer tied for first on the balance beam.

The Sooners (9-4) host Big 12 foe Missouri on Feb. 25 at 2 p.m. at the Lloyd Noble Center in Norman in their 2001 home opener.
