Sooners Headed to Ohio for Lady Northern Intercollegiate
In its second meet of the fall season, the University of Oklahoma women's golf team will compete in the Lady Northern Intercollegiate on Sept. 27-28 in Columbus, Ohio. The tournament will be played at the 6,037-yard, par-72 Ohio State University Scarlet Golf Course.
The two-day tournament will be formatted with 36 holes on Saturday and 18 holes on Sunday. Competition will start with an 8:30 a.m.(EST) shotgun start both days.
Competing for the Sooners will be Hope Edge, Amparo Gala, Lisa Meldrum, and Emily Milberger. Jaclyn Stelzer and Cathryn Uselton will be competing individually.
The 14-team field includes Illlinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kent State, Michigan, Michigan State, Minnesota, Northwestern, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Penn State, Purdue, Texas and Wisconsin.
Oklahoma Finishes Fourth at NCAA Fall Preview
Playing against a stellar filed in its first tournament of the fall, the University of Oklahoma women's golf team finished in fourth place with a score of 888 (+24) at the NCAA Fall Preview in Auburn, Ala. The NCAA Fall Preview consisted of 17 nationally ranked teams, including the top 11 in the country. The tournament was played at the same course that the 2004 National Championships will be held in the spring.
Leading the way for OU was senior Lisa Meldrum who earned second-place honors with a 214. Senior Hope Edge tied for 18th place with a score of 220 while sophomore Amparo Gala shot a 227 and tied for 36th. Junor Emily Milberger posted a score of 233 to tie for 56th and sophomore Cathryn Uselton finished tied for 83rd with 246 total strokes.
