NORMAN, Okla.--After being named to the Academic All-Big 12 First Team on Tuesday, Oklahoma senior Erin Young and junior Christy Kenkel collected more accolades on Thursday, as they were selected to the CoSIDA Academic All-District VI Teams. Young was named to the first team and Kenkel to the second team. It is the second such honor for both Sooners who were honored last season.
In order to qualify, candidates must possess a 3.20 grade-point average or higher, have at least a sophomore standing and they must have competed in 50 percent of their’ teams games this season.
Earlier in the week, 10 Sooners headlined the Academic All-Big 12 teams, the most in the conference. A defender, Young is majoring in chemistry and is also a four-time member of the Academic All-Big 12 First Team. Kenkel, a midfielder, is majoring in chemistry and is a two-time member of the All-Big 12 Academic First Team.
