DALLAS -- In its final non-conference match before Big 12 conference play begins, the Oklahoma soccer team suffered a 3-0 loss to SMU on a rainy Sunday evening. The loss sends the Sooners back home with a 4-4-2 record as they prepare to begin Big 12 play.

The Sooners were led by Renae Cuellar, who recorded five shots, four of them on goal. Jade Dapaah added two shots, one on target. OU was outshot 16-10, with 11 of SMU's shots coming in the opening half. Each team had five shots in the second half.

Devonshire, the reigning Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week, recorded five saves on the night. The three goals allowed was just the second time this season OU allowed more than one goal.

The Mustangs jumped out to an early 1-0 lead just over 10 minutes into the game. The goal came courtesy of Shelby Redman, sending it past OU goaltender Kelsey Devonshire with a shot from just outside the box that went inside the left post.

SMU added its second goal of the night 10 minutes later, courtesy of Olivia Elliott on a free kick just outside the box. The final goal came in the 82nd minute off the foot of Mallory Baum.

OU returns home this weekend for a two-game homestand when the Sooners host Baylor on Sept. 21 at 7 p.m. before playing rival Texas on Sept. 23 at 1 p.m. Fans can watch the beginning of Big 12 competition at John Crain Field in Norman and live on Sooner Sports TV.
