NORMAN, Okla. - The 21st-ranked Oklahoma women's tennis team hosts its final two home matches of the season as the Sooners take on No. 41 Kansas State on Friday, April 15 at 5 p.m., and Kansas on Sunday, April 17 at noon.
Sunday's match will be Senior Day at OU tennis. The Sooners will hold a special ceremony in between doubles and singles to recognize seniors Ana-Maria Constantinescu, Tara Eckel and Maria Kalashnikova in their final match at the Headington Family Tennis Center.
"I am very sad this weekend has come and our three seniors will be playing their last two home matches," OU Head Coach David Mullins said. "They have put in so much work to get us where we are today and I am going to miss them terribly."
Oklahoma (14-5, 6-2 Big 12) is currently third in the Big 12 standings behind Baylor and Texas and is the second-highest ranked team in the league in the latest ITA poll at No. 21.
"I am confident that the seniors and their teammates will put up a strong showing this weekend and finish out our regular season the way it started," Mullins said.
The Sooners will play their seventh-straight match against a nationally-ranked opponent. OU is currently 10-5 against opponents in the ITA top 75, with all five losses coming to top 25 teams.
OU has won the doubles point in 16 of its 19 matches this season. Constantinescu and partner Alice Radu are ranked No. 51 nationally in doubles.
The Sooners currently lead the Big 12 at the No. 1 and No. 2 doubles positions. Constantinescu and Radu are 6-1 in Big 12 play at the No. 1 spot, while freshmen Mia Lancaster and Whitney Ritchie are undefeated in Big 12 play in doubles.
Ritchie and Lancaster are 10-1 overall in doubles after making their first collegiate appearance as a pair on Feb. 27 against Ohio State.
Lancaster currently leads the team in overall record in singles at 15-3, while Kalashnikova holds the team's second-best record at 14-5.
Kalashnikova leads the Big 12 at the No. 6 singles position with a 7-1 conference record. Lancaster is currently in third at the No. 5 position at 6-2, while Marie-Pier Huet is in second at the No. 4 position at 7-2.
Fans in attendance during Friday's meet will receive a free OU Build-A-Bear. On Sunday, fans can get free pizza, a t-shirt and a fan banner.
