MIDLAND, Texas – Oklahoma senior Andrei Daescu secured a spot in the main draw singles semifinals after defeating the Longhorn’s Daniel Whitehead 6-1, 6-1.
Daescu, No. 40 nationally, is set to take on UT’s Josh Zavala in semifinal competition Sunday.
Sophomore George Chanturia was eliminated from singles action after falling to Baylor’s Julian Bley 6-3, 6-3.
The Sooner’s duo of Daescu and junior Ionut Beleleu continued to roll through doubles action. The duo defeated Camillone and Wiegand of UT, 8-6. In their second match they defeated another pair of Longhorns, Chen and Whitehead, 8-5.
The duo will compete in the finals, Sunday, against the tournaments third-seed consisting of Pepperdine’s Llompart and Tearney.
