NORMAN, Okla. -- Cade Davis, the leading scorer and co-leading rebounder on last season's Oklahoma men's basketball team, signed a contract this week to play professionally in Macedonia for the next two years.
Davis signed on Tuesday -- his birthday -- and will play for MZT Skopje in the capital city of Skopje. Located in southeast Europe, Macedonia is one of the successor states of the former Yugoslavia and borders Greece to the north. It is also bordered by Albania, Bulgaria, Kosovo and Serbia.
"To play professionally is pretty much a dream come true," said Davis. "I remember in first, second and third grade when we had to write letters to ourselves about what we wanted to do when we grew up. Mine were always about playing basketball, and now that's what I get to do. I guess it's good to write down your goals."
Davis averaged 14.2 points and 5.0 rebounds for OU last year and earned honorable mention All-Big 12 honors.  An Academic All-Big 12 First Team member, he led the team in scoring 12 times, including each of the final seven games when he averaged 20.7 points on .527 shooting. He finished his career with 181 3-point field goals and 1,015 points to rank fifth and 35th in school history, respectively.
Davis said he reports to training camp Aug. 15.

"I know there's a lot of history and architecture there. I'm anxious to experience the culture," said Davis. "They speak Macedonian, so I think I'm going to have to buy Rosetta Stone and see if I can learn some things."
