NORMAN, Okla. The honors keep rolling in for University of Oklahoma golfer Anthony Kim.
The sophomore was announced as the Big 12 Player of the Year by the league office Wednesday and was a unanimous selection for the 2005 All-Big 12 team as voted by the conference’s coaches.
The La Quinta, Calif., native has captured medalist honors in his last two tournaments, including the Big 12 Championship. He has seven top-20 finishes and a 71.87 stroke average through 27 rounds played this season.
Kim, the 2004 Big 12 Newcomer of the Year and NCAA Freshman of the Year, is the second Sooner to earn player of the year distinction. Hunter Haas earned the title in 1998.
Oklahoma State’s Pablo Martin was voted newcomer of the year and Cowboy head coach Mike Holder was named coach of the year.
Kim and OSU’s Alex Noren are the lone repeat All-Big 12 team members from 2004. Texas’ Matthew Rosenfeld was a member of the 2003 squad.
