NORMAN, Okla. - Moses Washington, a sophomore-to-be on the University of Oklahoma track and field team, will represent the United States in the 800-meter run at the Pan American Junior Track and Field Championship in Tampa, Fla., this weekend. Also, Sooner newcomer L'eron George, who will be a freshman next year at OU, will compete for the U.S. in the 200-meter run and 4x100 relay.

Washington will participate in the 800-meter preliminaries on Friday. The final will be held on Saturday. George will run in the 200-meter preliminaries on Saturday (final held on Sunday) and in the 4x100 preliminaries on Sunday (final also on Sunday).

Both student-athletes were selected for the U.S. team after their strong performances at the U.S. Junior Nationals in Denton, Texas, in mid-June. Washington, from Miami, Fla., won the junior national 800-meter title with a time of 1:50.79, while George, from Dallas, Texas, finished third in the 200 meters. Washington also holds the OU 800-meter indoor record (1:48.65).
