DALLAS -- The No. 10 University of Oklahoma baseball team suffered a 2-0 loss to Dallas Baptist Tuesday night at Horner Ballpark.

The pitching duel between Oklahoma (33-12) and Dallas Baptist (23-22) was fueled in part by the OU bullpen, which was called into action for the final seven frames.

Down 1-0 after the first inning and called upon in the second, the OU relievers gave up just one run on six hits in seven innings of work. Starter Adam Choplick left in the second inning with an injury after he fielded a bunt.

Right-hander Kyle Hayes replaced Choplick with the bases loaded and no outs, but he got out of the jam without any damage done. The junior pitched three innings and allowed no runs on one hit with three strikeouts.

Billy Waltrip also pitched three innings and gave up three hits. He faced one batter in the eighth, who scored off of Ralph Garza Jr. for Dallas Baptist's final tally.

Offensively, OU had three hits, two of them from Matt Oberste and one from Jack Mayfield. Oklahoma and Dallas Baptist both left seven runners on base.

The Sooners had two runners on in the second, fifth and eighth innings but could not score. The scoring opportunities in the second and fifth frames came with two outs, while there was one out in the eighth with two OU base runners.

The Patriots scored the game's first run in the opening inning, when a single from Duncan McAlpine scored Ronnie Mitchell. The one-run lead lasted until the eighth inning, when DBU added an insurance run.

Oklahoma travels to West Virginia for a three-game series with its new conference foe May 3-5. The Sooners return home for a rematch with the Patriots on May 14 at L. Dale Mitchell Park.
