Oklahoma Headed For Hawaii
The No. 11 ranked (Golfweek) University of Oklahoma women’s golf team opens up the month of Nov. at the Kent Youel Invitational in Kapolei, Hawaii. The tournament, played Nov. 4-5, will be held at the 6,139-yard, par-72 Kapolei Golf Course.

The two-day event is formatted with 36 holes on Tuesday and the final 18 holes played on Wednesday.

The same squad that won the Price’s Give Em Five Intercollegiate will be back in action. Competing for the Sooners will be Lisa Meldrum, Hope Edge, Emily Milberger, Amparo Gala and Jaclyn Stelzer. According to Golfweek, Senior Meldrum is currently ranked as the No. 6 golfer in the country.

The 15-team field includes BYU, Cal State Northridge, Colorado, Hawaii, long Beach St., New Mexico St., No. 11 Oklahoma, No. 22 Oregon, Oregon St., Portland St., San Francisco, San Jose St., Santa Clara, Southern Illinois, Texas A&M, UC Irvine and Washington.

 

Sooners Win Price’s Give Em Five Intercollegiate
OU placed first at the Price’s Give Em Five Intercollegiate with a total of 888 (+24) at the New Mexico State University Golf Course in Las Cruces, N.M. The team’s final round was its best of the fall season and it marked the first victory since last April at the Susie Maxwell Berning Classic.

Senior Lisa Meldrum continued her stellar fall play and finished tied for second place after recording a season-low 69 in the final round. Senior Hope Edge earned her best finish of the season after placing fifth with a total of 221. Sophomore Amparo Gala and junior Emily Milberger tied for 17th with a 226. Freshman Jaclyn Stelzer tied for 29th with a 229. Freshman Alana Donaldson competed as an individual and finished tied for 61st in her first collegiate tournament.

Shot a score of 220 at the NCAA Fall Preview to tie for 18th ... Ranks second on team with a 74.6 scoring average.

Emily Milberger: Carded a 226 and tied for 17th at the Price’s Give Em Five Intercollegiate ... Recorded a 229 and tied for 11th at the Lady Northern Intercollegiate ... Tied for 56th with a 233 at last week’s NCAA Fall Preview ... Averaging 76.4 strokes per round.

Amparo Gala: Shot a three-round 226 and finished in a tie for 17th at the Price’s Give Em Five Intercollegiate ... Tied for 11th after shooting a 226 at the Lady Northern Intercollegiate ... Recorded a 227 and finished tied for 36th at the NCAA Fall Preview ... Averaging 75.4 strokes per round.

Jaclyn Stelzer: Recorded a 229 and finished tied for 29th at the Price’s Give Em Five Intercollegiate ... In her first collegiate action, tied for 28th with a total of 234 at the Lady Northern Intercollegiate ... Averaging 77.1 strokes per round.
