NORMAN, Okla. The University of Oklahoma men’s golf team got off to a solid start today at the Morris Williams Intercollegiate at Austin Country Club, finishing round one with a team total of 284 (-4) and in second place, one shot behind Oklahoma State.
Ben Hogan Award semifinalist Anthony Kim once again led the way for OU, recording a three-under-par 69 and extending his streak of consecutive rounds of par or better to seven. He is tied for second place going into round two.
Senior Justin Fraley also turned in a solid round, shooting 70 (-2). Junior Nick Sheedy fired an even-par 72 and senior Shawn LaFontaine carded a one-over 73 to complete OU’s team score.
SMU’s Brandon DeStafano leads the individual standings after a first-round 65 (-7).
