NORMAN, Okla. -- The University of Oklahoma men's golf team stands in seventh place after shooting a first-round 283 (-1) and a second-round 287 (+3) at the 54-hole Royal Oaks Intercollegiate on Monday in Dallas, Texas. The 12-team field, which includes seven squads ranked in Golfstat's top 50, is competing at the par-71, 7,068-yard Royal Oaks Country Club.

The Sooners trail leader Iowa (-17) by 20 strokes. Texas A&M (-12), the reigning two-time Royal Oaks Intercollegiate champion, is in second place, five strokes behind the Hawkeyes. Arkansas (-4) is 13 shots back and in third place.

Senior Liam Logan leads the Sooners after the first day of action at 1 under par. Logan shot a first-round 72 and carded a second-round 69 with the help of an eagle on No. 18. He is tied for 16th place out of 72 golfers.

Sophomore Will Kropp is tied for 47th place at +6 after shooting rounds of 75 and 73, while freshman Eduardo Castiello, who made his collegiate debut today, is tied for 62nd place after rounds of 72 and 79. Castiello is competing as an individual.

"We need to make some putts tomorrow in order to get our momentum going in the right direction," said OU head coach Ryan Hybl, whose team was in fourth place after the first 18. "We were very average today and that is not good enough in a tournament of this caliber. We need a great day tomorrow."

The Royal Oaks Intercollegiate final round will begin Tuesday at 8:30 a.m. CT. Live scoring is available at Golfstat.com.
