NORMAN, Okla. - The University of Oklahoma women's golf team shot a final-round 308 (+20) on Sunday en route to a three-round 929 (+65) at the Big 12 Championship in Norman.  The Sooners improved on Saturday's second round by seven strokes (best of any team) to finish in 11th place at the 6,327-yard, par-72 Jimmie Austin OU Golf Club.
Texas A&M, which entered the day tied for third place 11 strokes behind leader Oklahoma State, shot a final-round 296 (+8) to capture the team title by one stroke over the Cowgirls.  A&M's Sarah Zwartynski sank an eight-foot putt on the par-5 18th hole to clinch the win after OSU's Caroline Hedwall birdied.  It was the Aggies' fourth Big 12 crown.  Texas finished in third place with a 905 while Iowa State finished in fourth (906) and Texas Tech in fifth (913).
Hedwall won medalist honors by eight strokes with her 6-under 210, a Big 12 Championship record.  Baylor's Hannah Burke finished in second with a 2-over 218.
Junior Ellen Mueller posted OU's best finish for the 11th time in 12 tournaments this season with a 20th-place showing.  The junior carded a final-round 77 (+5) en route to a 54-hole 229 (+13).  It marked the 11th top-20 finish for Mueller this year and the 17th of her career.

Senior Andrea Sellmeyer carded a 77 (+5) for the second straight day and finished tied for 30th place with a three-round 232 (+16) in what likely was her last collegiate event.  Fellow senior Chelsey Collins also exhibited consistency, repeating her second-round 78 (+6) with the same score Sunday.  She finished with a three-round 233 (+17) and tied for 35th place.
"Andrea and Chelsey, they worked really hard all year," OU head coach Veronique Drouin said of the senior duo.  "This week they played better than they ever have out here at the Jimmie.  I'm really proud to see that, and to have them finish on a high note is awesome for them.  They're great girls and I wish them all the best."
Finishing fourth for the Sooners was freshman Taylor Schmidt, who tied for 39th place in her Big 12 Championship debut.  Schmidt shot a final-round 76 (+3) and a 54-hole 235 (+19).  Sophomore Brooke Collins carded her lowest round of the tournament on Sunday with a 79 (+7), good for a three-round 245 (+29) and 58th place.
"NCAA bids go out tomorrow," Drouin said.  "I don't think we're going to regionals because we were 72nd going into this tournament.  I think we pretty much had to win the tournament in order to get an automatic bid.  Ellen may have a chance as an individual.  She's close, so we'll see tomorrow."
