NORMAN, Okla. -- The Sept. 9, 2005, issue of Golf World magazine has listed Oklahoma junior Anthony Kim as the No. 1 male player to watch in its 2005 college golf preview report.
The issue includes listings of the top 50 male and female players to watch for the upcoming season.
Kim was the 2004 and 2005 Big 12 Player of the Year and a two-time All-American. As a freshman he was named the Big 12 Newcomer of the Year and was given the Phil Mickelson Award by the Golf Coaches Association of America as the national freshman of the year.
This past summer Kim earned medalist honors at the U.S. Amateur Public Links Championship for winning the stroke-play portion of the competition, and advanced to the match-play semifinals. Kim also made it to the quarterfinals of the U.S. Amateur Championship at Merion Golf Club in Ardmore, Pa.
In addition, Kim was named to the 2005 United States Walker Cup team and helped guide the U.S. to its first victory over Great Britain and Ireland in eight years.
