No. 4 OU Grapples with No. 6 Lehigh Saturday

NORMAN, Okla. -- The No. 4 Oklahoma wrestling squad hosts No. 6 Lehigh in the first home dual of the season at 7 p.m. at the Howard McCasland Field House.

“Saturday night’s matchup with Lehigh will be an opportunity for fans to see some great wrestling action by two of the nation's premier teams,” said head coach Jack Spates.
“There are going to be some great bouts on the night and Lehigh is one of the nation's great wrestling traditions.

Saturday night will also mark the Sooners first dual in the newly renovated Howard McCasland Field House.

The evening's premier match at 141-pounds pits top seniors from both schools. No. 1 Teyon Ware of Oklahoma takes on No. 3 Cory Cooperman of Lehigh. Both wrestlers finished in the top three at nationals last year with Ware taking the NCAA Championship and Cooperman finishing third.

$.50 hot dogs will be available while supplies last and the first 500 fans will receive a 2005-06 schedule magnet with one lucky fan winning a 20” flat screen TV.

The Sooners return to action after defeating the University of Central Oklahoma, 32-6, Wednesday. OU recorded five major decisions and a fall courtesy of Teyon Ware.

On Friday, Dec. 9, the Sooners will travel to Stillwater to take on No. 1 Oklahoma State in the first Bedlam match of the season at 7 p.m. inside Gallager-Iba Arena.
