NORMAN, Okla. -- The 18th-ranked University of Oklahoma volleyball team faced a tough test Tuesday night, fending off the University of Arkansas in four sets (16-25, 25-18, 25-23, 25-20). Oklahoma (7-1) dropped the opening set 25-16 and rallied back to win three straight to take the match.

After an out of rhythm first set, OU found their energy in the second set, winning 25-18. The Razorbacks (5-3) gave the Sooners a scare in the third set, but OU eventually etched out a win, taking the set 25-23. After 10 ties and four lead changes in the fourth set, OU eventually won 25-20 to take the match.

Sophomore Sallie McLaurin (Midwest City, Okla.) and senior Brianne Barker (Amarillo, Texas) led the Sooners with double-doubles. McLaurin recorded her fourth career double-double with 12 kills and 11 blocks.

McLaurin's nine block assists match her previous career high set twice previously. It also broke her previous OU single match record (four sets) in the category (8 vs. Missouri, 10/9/10). She hit .526 to lead a Sooner team that hit just .198, its second lowest hitting percentage of the season.

Barker had 36 assists and 13 digs for her 62nd career double-double and fifth of the season. Barker also had two athletic saves, helping keep Oklahoma in the match and clinch their final victory.

Also aiding the Sooners were freshman Tara Dunn (Poth, Texas), who had nine kills, hit .421 and had three block assists. Junior Maria Fernanda (Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico), who added 17 digs. Junior Morgan Reynolds (Blue Springs, Mo.) and senior Suzy Boulavsky (Houston, Texas) also contributed three block assists each. Reynolds added seven kills, while Boulavsky totaled six. Reynolds also added Oklahoma's third block solo of the night.

Boulavsky also led the team with three service aces, a season-high for her.
Jasmine Norton had 17 kills, and Christa Alvarez had 13 digs for Arkansas. OU's blocking aided the Sooners in the win by out-blocking Arkansas 15.0-5.0. The Razorbacks out-scored the Sooners 66.0-62.0 on the scoresheet and had more kills (55-43) but OU's defense proved to be the deciding factor in the end.

The Sooners travel to Miami, Fla. for the Miami Invitational this weekend. OU plays Florida A&M at 3 p.m. CT Friday. They face Auburn at 9 a.m. CT and Miami at 6 p.m. CT Saturday.
