NORMAN, Okla. - The University of Oklahoma men's golf team received a fifth-place ranking today in the Golfweek/Sagarin college golf rankings. Oklahoma captured the Bank of Tennessee/The Ridges Intercollegiate Championship in Johnson City, Tenn., on September 11 in its first fall tournament. It marked the Sooners' first team championship since winning the NCAA Central Regional in 1995.

Senior Chris James and junior Kelsey Cline earned top-25 individual honors, receiving the 17th and 22nd rankings, respectively. Other Sooner players ranked are sophomore J.D. Robertson at 34th and sophomore Cody Freeman at 42nd. Redshirt freshman John Kidwell is ranked 85th.

Oklahoma was the top-ranked Big 12 school in the poll, with Oklahoma State one spot behind. Kansas received a ranking of 15, while Texas was 27th.

The Sooners' next tournament is Oct. 1 and 2 at the William H. Tucker Intercollegiate in Albuquerque, N.M. The event will be hosted by the University of New Mexico and will mark OU's eighth visit to the tournament and first since 1997 when the team tied for seventh. Oklahoma won the event at the par-72 University of New Mexico Championship Course in 1988.
