NORMAN, Okla. - The 21st-ranked Oklahoma women's golf team will be competing in the 2002 Big 12 Championships April 19-21 at Colbert Hills Golf Course in Manhattan, Kan. Colbert Hills Golf Course is a 6,067-yard, par-72 course. The tournament format will consist of 18 holes and tee times each of the three days. Friday and Saturday competition will begin at 8 a.m. off the first tee. Sunday's action will also begin at 8 a.m. with golfers begining play off tees one and 10.

Oklahoma State is the defending tournament champion with individualist honors going to OSU's Maria Boden. Boden's victory came after a playoff with Missouri's Amelia Moses and Oklahoma's Lisa Meldrum. Meldrum set a course record last year at The Harvester in Ames,Iowa, when she fired a 67 in the second round of play.

"I am very excited about this tournament," said OU head coach Carol Ludvigson. "This is the one year that I feel from one through five we are as strong as anyone. Any of the five players could turn in a low round. Each one of these girls feels responsible for the team and each other. I won't be surprised if at the end of the tournament we are the team to beat."
