In only her first year of collegiate gymnastics competition, Kasie Tamayo developed into one of the Big 12's top newcomers. Tamayo was one of the driving forces behind OU's first berth in the NCAA National Championships in 12 years. An all-arounder who competed in every competition, Tamayo notched the second-best all-around score in Oklahoma history with a 39.550 March 16 vs. Texas Woman's University. The Sacramento, Calif., native also won three all-around titles in 2001 and was named Big 12 Gymnast of the Week on Feb. 27.
What is the one thing you remember about your first day on campus as a freshman at OU?
I remember meeting all of my new teammates while I was trying to move into my little dorm room. Also, I remembered how nice everyone was in Oklahoma...it kind of shocked me a bit.
If you could star in a television show, what would it be?
WWF. I know it's fake and all but that's what makes it so great.
What is your favorite musical instrument?
The piano. I used to play when I was younger.
What is one hobby or sport you wish you could have taken up if you were a kid again?
Probably soccer. I love to play it but I can not run long distance for anything.
What was your favorite class in high school?
Cooking class because we got to eat every day.

My beanie baby moose. I take it everywhere with me.
