Tough Defeat
The Oklahoma soccer team suffered a tough double-overtime defeat to rival Oklahoma State, 2-1, Saturday in Stillwater.
A few bright spots for OU were sophomore midfielder Jennifer Enos scoring her first goal of the year and senior Mary Morse picking up first point of the year with the assist.
The Big 12 Tournament
Despite the loss to OSU, the Sooners qualified for the conference tournament for the first time in school history.
Oklahoma is seeded sixth and will face the No. 3 seed in the tournament, Texas. The first-round matchup is slated for Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. at Blossom Soccer Stadium in San Antonio, Texas.
OU-Texas
Oklahoma and UT met on Oct. 22 in Norman when OU defeated Texas, 2-0, behind freshman forward Logan Womack's pair of goals in the final three minutes and sophomore goalkeeper Jana Cunningham's fourth conference shutout. UT's loss dropped them out of first place in the Big 12.
The win for Oklahoma tied the all-time series with Texas at two victories apiece.
About Texas
The Longhorns hope to bounce back after losing their last two games of the season, including last Saturday's 2-1 overtime loss to rival Texas A&M in College Station.
Kati McBain (29 points), Kylee Wosnuk (26 points) and Abby Gutowski (23) lead Texas' high-powered offense. The Longhorns are 12-6 overall and 7-3 in the Big 12.
