NORMAN, Okla. – University of Oklahoma senior Suzy Boulavsky has been named to the Capital One Academic All-America® Division I Volleyball first team, the College Sports Information Directors of America announced today. It marks the second straight year Boulavsky has earned Academic All-America honors.
“It means a lot to us to have a student-athlete recognized for her efforts on and off the court,” said Oklahoma head coach Santiago Restrepo. “Suzy is a great role model for all student-athletes. We’re proud of what she’s accomplished. She’s stepped up and done a great job.”
Boulavsky recently earned her first American Volleyball Coaches Association All-America and All-Region honor. She was named honorable mention All-America and first team All-Region. Boulavsky led the Sooners with 3.26 kills per set, hitting .291 on the year. She averaged 0.77 blocks per set with 96 total. She also earned first team All-Big 12 honors.
Boulavsky was named to the third team Academic All-America team last year. She is a three-time Academic All-District selection and maintains a 3.97 grade point average in public relations.
Florida’s Kristy Jaeckel was named Academic All-American of the Year. Graduate student Stephanie Browne of Stanford was named to the first team along with Boulavsky, senior Kristin Hoffman of Northern Illinois, senior Kelly Williamson of New Mexico and junior Katherine Fischer of Oregon. The six members of the Capital One Academic All-America® Division I Volleyball first team have a 3.98 average GPA.
